Senior/Travel Umpiring Information

 

The EPBA is seeking senior and travel umpires for the upcoming summer baseball season.  Applications are now accepted.   Following are incentives and features with working with EP umpires:

• 10U through 15U travel and Junior Legion, SYBL (10-12th grade high school)
• Seeking umpires for tournaments in EP and Southwest area:  May 5-7, June 2-4
• Highest pay per game for metro area- $75 for 15AAA and up.
• Senior/travel umps get paid $67.50/game (15AAA and below) regardless of level umped.
• Select tournaments.
• Nice facilities and ball fields.  Competitive baseball.
• Self-assign.
• Opportunity to get paid $55/game to mentor young umps.
• Robust sub program to fill in if you have an emergency conflict.
• Minnesota Hall of fame umpire Larry Gallagher as trainer/mentor/resource/advisor.
• Fast track training program for rookie senior umpires.
• You can cross roster between our organization and others.

 

Qualifications:

• Experienced umpires with community, travel, high school, legion pedigree.
• We have a fast-track training program for prospective with no prior baseball umping experience, but have a strong baseball background, knowledge of the game, and/or experience officiating other sports.  We will train you and also provide live game mentoring – start you at appropriate levels and then fast track you to appropriate travel levels.
• All prospective umpires will be subject to criminal background check.

Uniform/Equipment:  Full umpire gear is required.   Most umpires have their own equipment, but the EPBA has polo shirts to give as well as select equipment to give/loan including plate brushes, indicators, masks, shins, and inside protectors.  Senior umps should expect to acquire their own pants, caps, belts, ballbags, and ump shoes to their comfort level.
