Below is a description of the 2019 MBL/MBT bat regulations. These new regulations apply to all Eden Prairie Travel Players ages 9U – 15U.
The new bat regulations will be enforced at travel tryouts, so please ensure your child has a legal bat. Please read the details below for each age group.
Bat restrictions: 9U-14U: All bats must have the new USA stamp (unless using a -3 BBCOR bat or wood bat).
15’s can use a BBCOR bat or wood bat.
9-U, 10-U, 11-U, 12-U, 13-U
Bats must be 2 1/4" with unlimited weight differential or bats 2 5/8" and have a -11 differential or less (i.e. 31” – 20.0 oz.)
14-U
14/15A
Bats must be 2 5/8" with a -5 or less differential or a -3 BBCOR bat.
15-U
Bats must be 2 5/8” with a -3 or less differential and must be a BBCOR bat.

3rd Grade: Maximum diameter 2 ¼” or less with unlimited weight differential with approval by USSSA or Babe Ruth with 1.15 BPF rating.
4th/5th: Same restrictions as 3rd grade with the exception of Big Barrel bats those with a diameter greater than 2 ¼”. Big Barrel bats must have a minus 10 weight differential.
6th/7th: There are no restrictions on the length of bats; each bat must be 2-3/4 inches or less in diameter at the thickest part and the bat shall be a -10, -5 or -3 in weight differential and approved for play by USSSA or Babe Ruth.
8th/9th: There are no restrictions on the length of bats, but, each bat must be 2-3/4 inches or less in diameter at the thickest part and the bat shall be a -5 or -3 in weight differential and approved for play by USSSA or Babe Ruth.
SYBL: Maximum diameter at the thickest part: 2 5/8. Length of a bat can not be longer than 36”. Weight differential shall be -3 with BBCOR certification.
